Dog Park Recon in Florida

As we hone in on the design of our dog park Waggin’ Trails, we knew it was important to visit other membership parks in the country to see them in action. Last week we flew to Jacksonville, FL to check out 5 different parks.

What a great experience to see similar parks in person after planning Waggin’ Trails on paper for over a year! To see groups of dogs using agility equipment, or swimming in the doggy pond or talking to dog owners about their favorite features in their parks. We learned so much and left energized to make our dream a reality.

We saw many things that we have planned for Waggin’ Trails: small dog areas, water features, key fobs/entry systems. And we also learned about features we hadn’t considered: a section of the park that is lit after dark for winter use, having a groomer on site, a memorial for a favorite pet on a brick walkway.
